Dear parents, guardians and students,

Happy new year and welcome to our new class blog! We will be using this blog to share upcoming events and post about the learning going on in our classroom.

Here are some class updates for January:

In Math, we are exploring data management. We will be focusing on organizing and analyzing information in various ways including bar graphs, pictographs, and charts. Next, we will practise reading time on both analogue and digital clocks. Students will be working to identify time to the nearest 5 minutes.

In Language, we are learning how to properly construct a paragraph. Our writing focus this month is narrative writing. Students will continue to create their own stories, some based on personal experiences and some based on classics we have read as a class. While reading at home, students are being encouraged to make predictions before and during reading.

In Science, we have finished our strong and stable structures unit and have begun to investigate forces in motion. Ask your child what forces we have looked at so far!

In Religion, we are discussing the important events that happen in our lives and who we celebrate them with. We will also be looking at healthy friendships how to be a good friend.

As it is still very cold outside, please make sure your child comes to school with warm and  attire (i.e., hat, gloves, snow pants, extra socks, etc.).

Thank you for your continued support!

- Ms. Bentham
